Local Airport Information & Transportation: For out of town guests, flying into either the San Francisco International (SFO) Airport and the Oakland International Airport (OAK) allows for easy access to the city.

* Tip - For anyone flying in from the East Coast, we have found that Jet Blue Airlines from JFK to OAK is a great carrier with one the best cross-country rates around. Check out the flight options at www.jetblue.com. Our favorite is the 7:10am out of JFK which lands in Oakland at 10:20am and gives you the whole day you arrive to play.

Rental Cars:
All major Rental Car services are available at the airports. However, a rental car is really not necessary for a weekend in San Francisco. Unless you are traveling with children &/or have a large amount of luggage, it's extremely easy fairly cheap to get from either airport into the city. Parking in the city is difficult at best and very expensive in general. Parking at the Hyatt is $32 a day and runs between $25-35 at most of the other area hotels. Parking in the shopping district will run about $2.50 per 20 minutes. We're providing shuttles to both the welcome reception and the wedding so there's no real need to have a car for Friday or Saturday. If you're planning on extending your trip for an excursion out of the city, it's worthwhile to note that there are rental car offices for Hertz, Avis, Enterprise and Budget right in Fisherman's Wharf and all are within a block or two from the Hyatt. That way you could easily rent a car only for the days you actually need it.

Public Transit:
Public transit in San Francisco is extensive. It's relatively easy and inexpensive. A Complete listing of all the Bay area transit websites can be found at www.transitinfo.org

For information and updates on the San Francisco Muni schedules and routes (city bus, subway, ferry): Please visit the web page of San Francisco Municipal Railway at www.sfmuni.com

For information the Bay Area Rapid Transportation System "BART" (train to/from airport, East Bay/Berkeley, South of the city) please visit the web page: http://www.bart.gov/stations/tripPlanner/tripPlanner.asp

Cable Cars:
San Francisco is world famous for its Cable Cars. There are two separate lines operating along three routes:
  • The Powell-Hyde line begins at Powell and Market Streets and terminates at Beach and Hyde Streets at Victorian Park near the Maritime Museum and Aquatic Park.
  • The Powell-Mason line also begins at Powell and Market Streets but ends at Bay and Taylor Streets near Fisherman's Wharf, one-half block from the Hyatt At Fisherman's Wharf.
  • The California Street line runs along California Street from Market Street to Van Ness Avenue.
Both the Cable cars and the Street Cars are a part of the Muni system. For additional information on schedules and routes please visit: www.sfmuni.com

A Note on Taxis:
Beware - catching a cab in San Francisco is not like catching a cab in New York City! There are fewer taxicabs in general and they are most easily flagged downtown in the Union Square (shopping), Fisherman's Wharf and Financial districts. The further away from highly trafficked or tourist areas you are or the later the hour, the harder the cabs are to find. You can always call and request a cab to pick you up, but the wait time is sometimes longer than you would normally expect in a major city. Although you could easily have a taxi drop you off at our wedding, we strongly recommend against attempting to depart by cab. Since the wedding is located in a highly residential area, there will be few if any cabs circulating the area in the later evening hours and you may end up frustrated by the wait.
